// Project 1

Walnuts???

Part 1. How much can you remember about walnuts in and out of the shell? Within 15 minutes make quick sketches of a walnut from memory. Attempt to communicate as much information as you can recall. Illustrate interior, exterior, and detail views. Write notes on your drawings regarding anything you can remember about walnuts including taste, texture, and any other associations. After completion of the drawings you will evaluate the accuracy of your peers by indicating on the drawings a + for accuracy or an -o- for inaccuracy.

Part 2. Now that you have the actual walnuts in front of you, produce more accurate and detailed drawings, notes, and observations. Demonstrate via a folio of drawings and diagrams how much more you have learned about walnuts and how its form and structure could relate to other ideas such as protection, packaging, and nutrition.

Part 3. Using your drawings as a reference, develop 1 simplified black and white pictorial symbol that represents one aspect of a walnut on a square format. After completion of this step, your peers will evaluate the projects using the same process in Part 1. The object of this problem is to instill the necessity for establishing an in-depth knowledge base before attempting to solve visual communication problems. The results are evaluated in terms of depth, involvement, and your ability to communicate conceptual and visual aspects of walnuts.
