Project 5 – Can walnuts save the world?

Your design company has had a long-standing client relationship with a corporation. The corporation just received a large grant to launch a not-for profit centered on a concept related to walnuts. Your design team has been assigned to develop a mission, vision, and goals for the not-for-profit, and a complete set of business collateral to include business stationery and a targeted information distribution campaign to raise awareness in such media as print, broadcast, web or other media.

Part 1
Teams thoroughly investigate a group of people that could potentially be helped by this not-for-profit. The group should be as well defined as possible. “Everyone” or “the general public” are not acceptable approaches to this question. A character sketch of a prototypical group member will be created, complete with photos and personal story.
Part 2
The team examines the concept as it relates to the core business. What opportunities are there for synergies between the existing business model, and the new not-for-profit? Teams define an allied not-for-profit corporation that can produce a product or service for the public good.
Part 3
Teams will demonstrate the audience chosen, the viability of the non-profit concept, the features of the product or service by demonstrating the experience through a presentation given to the entire class and guest designers.

Projects will be evaluated for market viability, depth, involvement, and communicative success. Individual and team interaction will also be evaluated.

Part 1 due: April 2, 8:00 AM

Complete project due April 16, 9:00 AM
