Catalog Description: Offers studio experience using personal computer in the generation and processing of imagery in the visual arts. Prereq., ARTS 2126. Same as ARTS 5126. Formerly FINE 4126.

Goals:

  • To extend the understanding of the digital medium as pertains to Arts practice.
  • To continue to develop a personal aesthetic in the digital medium.
  • To understand aspects of digital culture, including community, collaboration, tribalism, personal networks, tagging, identity and narrativity, and create artwork/interfaces that demonstrate that understanding.

Objectives:

  • To derive an approach to common problems of creating computer-based or computer-enhanced work.
  • To develop an understanding of art as program, and art as concept
  • To understand the use and application of Object-oriented programming techniques in a Fine Art context.
