Project 3 | Create an Infinite Number of Artworks

Create a software-based art experience that has an infinite (or near infinite) number of potential outcomes.

You can use Flash, Processing, Java or another technology to create an algorithmically generated visual experience. Your work should:

  • have a distinct visual identity
  • use a series of algorithims to place visual elements on a canvas
  • center around a core visual or semantic idea
  • attempt to explore foundational ideas of visual construction (contrast, alignment, repetition, proximity, depth, scale, etc…)

You should turn in the software, and turn in five produced visual artifacts of the system to document the range and qualities of the images that are created. You may submit high-quality inkjet prints, dye sublimation prints or digital c-prints.

Artists experimenting in this area:

The project is due April 3rd (code)
Presentation-ready prints are due April 8th

This project will be graded on the quality and functionality of the sofware, experimentation and range of the visual language created, the quality of the visual artifacts produced by the system.
