ON-GOING PROJECT
You have the option to create an artifact, interactive digital piece or linear/time-based

One class period a week we will begin with a free association writing session based on the writings of Italo Calvino from the book Six Memos for the Next Milennium. As an ongoing project you each will create a small response composition, video or object that incorporates aspects of your free writing inspired by the articles. This is open interpretative work. The key however is that you complete a composition every week. Each Tuesday we will explore a new concept related to the text as well as critique compositions created in the previous 2 weeks. These compositions should take no more than 1 hour to actually design (that’s on the computer time outside of class). These compositions are glimpses & interpretative responses not to be lengthy contemplations.

CRITERIA

• Create a conceptual framework for these investigations
  (must have a conceptual thread that runs through all pieces, perhaps beyond the reading)
• Physical size (if physical) – size must maintain consistency in some way
  (each composition must be this size, or a drawn from a set of ratios)
• If video or interactive, time-based digital pieces are 10 quality seconds
  (each response = 10 seconds)
• Total of 10 plates (pages, screens, scenes, objects, etc..)
• No more than one hour to create outside of class
• No mounting for every other week presentation
